People of Latin American descent are at higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.


People of Latin American descent include those who are from countries located in South and Central America and may predominantly speak Spanish or Portuguese.

Available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French, the resource includes a customized vibrant balanced plate of food, tips on healthy eating, sample meal plans for big and small appetites and recommendations on physical activity.

Some people prefer to assimilate information orally. To accommodate this preference, the CDA has created oral versions of the Latin American languages of Just the Basics. The Latin American Working Group suggested that having this audio-visual option would be beneficial.
